What should be done if the clozapine treatment of a patient is interrupted, or they do not take their clozapine for a few days or longer?

Sudden, large increases in clozapine dosage have led to cardiovascular collapse and death. This is a particular issue when a patient has been non-compliant or medication has been otherwise stopped. If it has been more than two days since the patient last took clozapine, or the patient reduces their dosage, the clinician should be contacted regarding the plan for clozapine dosage.
