What is the best antidepressant to use in children?

Currently there is only one Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved antidepressant for use in children age eight and older: fluoxetine. Use of other antidepressants is thus off-label. The FDA has issued a black box warning that all antidepressants may increase the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in some children and adolescents with major depressive disorder.
