This resource was selected by SMI Adviser content partners and approved by the SMI Adviser clinical expert team for inclusion in the knowledge base.

Competencies include the values, attitudes, knowledge base, and skills needed to engage youth and young adults. These competencies are necessary to provide effective services and support to young people and their families. Each of the 15 core competencies is defined and followed by the attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary to demonstrate each competency. An example of each competency in practice is provided as well.
