The Suicide Prevention Resource Center provides training information on the following tools as part of the Zero Suicide framework: Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), SAFE-T, and Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS). Is there a screening tool that you endorse as universally best for suicide screening?

SPRC does not endorse any one screening tool over another. Some states and health care settings might have a specific screening tool mandated for use based on grant funding, for example. What is most important is to utilize a tool consistently across departments and for the tool to be evidence-based. Those tools which are part of the Zero Suicide framework have information on the SPRC website:
