This resource was selected by SMI Adviser content partners and approved by the SMI Adviser clinical expert team for inclusion in the knowledge base.

The National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) Medical Director Council has made seven recommendations for trauma-informed interventions for people with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). The council’s recommendations are motivated by the Interdepartmental Serious Mental Illness Coordinating Committee (ISMICC) vision to make trauma-informed, whole-person health care the expectation in all systems of care for people with SMI.
