Clinical informatics are transforming healthcare, but less so the care of serious mental illness. This webinar will focus on proven informatics approaches that have been used to improve the care of people with serious mental illness. An example will be drawn from services for increased weight. Applied clinical informatics have been used improve weight in patients with serious mental illness. Interventions have been tailored for this population and included consumer provider services. Risk prediction has also been automated, and used to improve services. There will be review of predictive analytics, and uses of these analytics for suicide prevention and improving complex primary care.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define predictive analytics and clinical informatics
  • Appraise recent research on prediction of health risks
  • Explain a patient-facing informatics system that improves the weight of people with serious mental illness
